Manoj Srivastava was born and brought up in New Delhi and received training in Film and Television Direction at the Film & Television Institute of India, Pune. He worked at India's National Television Channel Doordarshan and DD News as a Producer and directed some of the biggest Shows, documentaries, live broadcasts with multi camera set ups for years together.

He served as the Head of International Film Festival of India, Goa and India's National Film Awards. Srivastava has also written a number of Feature and Non Feature Films. Irani Chai however, is his debut
Feature.
Director's Statement
Making a Thriller on a shoe string budget with a cast that spoke two different languages Hindi and Persian was a huge challenge.

Irani Chai began with a chance meeting with the lead actress of film Mozhgan Taraneh when she showed me her performances across several Iranian films. The idea of working with her remained in my mind for years.
​
Elements like availability of a great actor and non availability of big funds finally led to a story that was to be shot in one room and limited locations.
With an ensemble cast of Iranian and Indian Actors, Irani Chai offers a different color, flavor and taste.
